When you come to play paintball at AG there are generally 2 ways to play, as a “Walk-on” or as a private group. There are different reasons for anyone to play as either a walk-on or as a private party but this blog will explain the differences for anyone looking to book.
First off, what is a private party? A private party here at AG Paintball is a paintball group of 10 or more players. To have a private party, all you need to do is have 10 players, call us at least 24 hours in advance, and put down a $50 deposit that you get back when you arrive. These private groups get their own referee and play as a group. They do not mix in with the other players here that day. You do not need to pay any additional fee for a private group either, and if you have over 20, contact us about large group pricing! So for no additional cost you get your own ref and more control over your day. Additionally, everyone can still pay separately with a private group. You don’t need one person to foot the bill for everyone and we have found this to be a huge relief for organizers!
The major benefit from our perspective is having your own referee. This means your group can play at your own pace. If you want to speed things up and play more games, you don't have to wait for others to be ready. Having your own referee really allows you to make the most of your day as a group. We require that your group have ten players (or more) for a few reasons. One reason is that many of our fields are large and if you have less than 5 players per side, it can make gameplay less exciting. Another reason is that we have to schedule refs to be available for your group when you arrive and with less than 10 players, it is very hard to handle staffing a game. Another major benefit is that your group will only play as a group. So whether we have 10 other players here, or 200, your group will be separate from the others here playing paintball. Private groups are great for groups of new players who may be nervous about playing with some of the more experienced players. Birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate outings and more are great reasons to get a private group together.
Walk-ons are basically the exact opposite of a private group. You do not need to call us in advance, you can show up that day and mix in with anyone in the walk-on group. This means that you don't have to organize anything or manage people. Just come play paintball! One of the benefits of coming to play as a walk-on is the chance to play larger games. Our walk-on group usually ranges in size from twenty to fifty players on an average day. This means more action, more gunfights and in general a more exciting paintball experience. If our walk-on group grows too large we will split them up into different groups to cater to skill level. In general though, we strive to make teams even based on talent levels. If you are a beginner, you can come as a walk-on and we will still make sure the teams are even and everyone has fun!
