Winter Tips and Tricks

Winter in New Hampshire is finally here!

Winter in New Hampshire is finally here! But that doesn't mean that paintball has gone away. Here are some winter tips to make sure that your next paintball adventure is a success!

Warm Clothing - Warm clothing is an essential part of winter paintball. We would strongly recommend a winter hat, a sweatshirt or jacket, gloves, and thermal layers. Not only will the warm layers prevent you from being too cold, but the extra layers act as additional padding.

Proper Footwear - Arguably the most important piece of gear, other than safety goggles, is proper footwear. A good pair of waterproof boots should do the trick. Keep your feet dry and warm!

Bring a Cooler - Not only is it important to keep your body warm, but it's also important to keep your paint warm too. Most paintball parks store their paint in climate controlled areas and purchase paint specifically designed for the season. But even with the most premium winter formulation, paint can get “grumpy” if it's too cold. Despite what most people think, the cold makes paint brittle and can result in broken paint in the hopper or breach. Bring a cooler to isolate your paint from the elements. Pro Tip: Throw a Hothands Hand Warmer in your cooler with your paint to make it extra happy!

Bring a Towel - I know what you're thinking, it's not beach season. But a towel can help shield your gear from water, moisture, and ice build up on the picnic tables in the staging area. Weather can also be a little unpredictable, so a towel will also help protect your stuff from snow. Just fold half of the towel over your gear before you head out to a game. It is also nice to have a towel handy when it's time to leave so you can clean your gear before you put it away!

Careful Sizing Your Paint - Although we strongly recommend using a barrel kit with your paintball marker, it is important not to under bore your paint. It's important to give your paint a little extra room in the barrel so that it doesn't break upon firing. Protip: Winter paint fill is a little thicker than summer fill, so it's important to bring a swab onto the field with you. It's difficult to shoot through a barrel break with winter fill, whereas with summer fill you most likely be able to shoot through it.

Keep Warm by the Fire - Take breaks when you get cold and cozy up by the fire. We have a large fire pit in our staging area going all winter long!

So now that you know all the tips and tricks for winter play, it's time to gear up and get out to the field this winter! Remember Adventure Games is open all winter long, regardless of the weather!
